Review: The Grand plan that lifts India to no 2 in Aviation

India is the third-largest air travel market in terms of domestic passenger traffic and the fastest growing domestic air market, with 18.6% growth in domestic airline Revenue Passenger Kilometer (RPK) in 2018 as compared with 6.5% growth in global RPK. India’s Ministry of Civil Aviation, launched Version 4.0 of its Regional Connectivity Scheme (RCS) – UDAN (Ude Desh Ka Aam Nagrik) in November 2019. The Scheme is a key component of the National Civil Aviation Policy, 2016 (NCAP) whose mission is to make flying accessible, affordable, and convenient to the common man, and to revive and foster regional connectivity by restoring operation of existing air-strips and airports.
