Megha Upadhyaya, Associate, JSA

Megha is a member of the banking & finance and corporate practice. She focuses on debt transactions including syndicated lending (secured and unsecured), external commercial borrowings, acquisition finance, and security creation. She also advises clients on corporate law issues, domestic and cross border acquisitions, and foreign investment laws of India.

Notably, Megha was part of the team that advised Mu Sigma Inc. in its USD 394.3 million financing which was awarded the ‘Best High Yield Syndicated Loan’ 2017 by GlobalCapital Asia.

Megha holds a B.A., LL.B. (Hons.) degree from Gujarat National Law University and an LL.M. in International Legal Studies from Georgetown University Law Center. During her LL.M., Megha was selected for and went on to pursue an internship at the Washington DC headquarters of the Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency (World Bank Group).

Megha is admitted to practice in India and New York (USA).

  • Advised Mu Sigma Inc. in relation to a US$ 394.3 million financing awarded the ‘Best High Yield Syndicated Loan’ 2017 by GlobalCapital Asia
  • Advised lenders in connection with a US$ 875 million facility to ONGC Videsh Limited
  • Advised lenders in connection with a US$ 300 million external commercial borrowing availed by India’s largest government owned natural gas processing and distribution company
  • Advised a lender in connection with an INR 1.2 billion facility for construction of residential projects
  • Advised Standard Chartered Bank in connection with the sale of certain stressed assets
