In a recent interaction between Infosys founder Narayana Murthy and former Infosys CFO Mohandas Pai, Narayana Murthy suggested a 70-hour work week for youngsters. The suggestion has sparked wide debate.
Everyone seems to have a view on the suggestion of the 70-hour work week. Some are questioning the test of productivity vs. hours spent. Some are debating extreme work hours vs work-life balance. Some are deliberating on appropriate compensation if a 70-hour work week is adopted instead of a 48-hour work week. Neither is it a law that has come into effect, nor is it any different from a short-lived realization during covid that physical presence in offices is passe and remote working is the way to go.
