Tension mounts for brand extensions post CCPA guidelines

The Central Consumer Protection Authority (CCPA) has recently issued the Guidelines for Prevention of Misleading Advertisements and Endorsements for Misleading Advertisements, 2022 (Guidelines) which have come into effect from June 9, 2022.

The Guidelines primarily contain safeguards for prevention of false/misleading advertisements and endorsements and apply to all advertisement, regardless of form, format or medium – this would include online marketing campaigns on digital and social media.
