A guide to the new Labour Codes in India, including an analysis of the noteworthy changes, their impact upon India Inc. and the steps to be taken by employers in order to align their practices and policies with the new labour law regime.
(A) Introduction and background
India has over 44 central level and 100 state specific labour laws. Most of these labour laws were enacted during the British reign and catered to the requirements of an industrial era. However, with changing times, such laws either became in-effective or started losing their contemporary relevance.
