He has served as the first Director General of the Competition Commission of India from 2004 to 2009. Reshma practices in the areas of Mergers & Acquisitions, business transfers, private equity including foreign investment, joint ventures and general corporate advisory.
She has been involved in conducting due diligence and has assisted in drafting of contracts and schemes including vetting of various commercial contracts.
She has further assisted in the preparation of transaction documentation for strategic investments and private equity acquisitions and handles corporate secretarial compliances.
She has also been part of the team advising clients on commercial transactions on matters of corporate restructuring.
Farhad acts and appears in diverse complex multi-jurisdictional national and international commercial arbitrations, and disputes involving tortious and contractual aspects of civil law. He acts and advises investors in Investor-State bilateral treaty arbitrations, and was the lead advisor in simultaneous litigation & arbitration proceedings in Sri Lanka and the U.K. for a global port operator, for which the Firm was awarded the ‘Asian Counsel-Deal of the Year’, for Dispute Resolution.
Farhad has advised & acted in numerous proceedings involving administrative law and constitutional challenges relating, amongst others, to excise duties and tariffs, service taxes and import & export laws. He has appeared in several landmark decisions of the Supreme Court of India on issues such as the liability to pay customs duty on the import of intellectual property and the applicability of excise duty provisions to immovable property. He co-chairs the firm’s dispute resolution practice.
Farhad has advised & appeared in numerous multi-pronged international trade defence investigations and proceedings involving anti-dumping and safeguard duties.
He has advised international and Indian companies on India’s erstwhile monopolistic, restrictive & unfair trade practices law and heads the firm’s Competition Law practice in Mumbai. Farhad acted in India’s first cartel activity investigation before the new Competition Commission of India and also the first substantive abuse of dominance proceeding before the commission. He advises extensively on merger control issues and filings in both global and Indian acquisitions and mergers, as well as on internal Competition Law corporate compliance.
Farhad has advised and assisted State Governments in the formulation and drafting of legislation pertaining to infrastructure development funding and fiscal accountability.
Gayatri practices in the areas of Banking & Finance, Foreign Direct Investment and Company law.
She has advised Domestic & International clients on diverse areas of law such as Banking & Structured products, Project Finance, Exchange Control, Securities Laws and general Corporate Commercial laws.
Gayatri has been involved in several transactions focused on Structured Finance, both Domestic & Cross Border. She has advised a number of Domestic & Multi-national Banks and Financial Institutions in various Syndicated Finance, Acquisition Finance, Project Finance, External Commercial Borrowing (ECB) and Structured Finance deals.
She has also advised Private Equity funds in their investments in Indian listed / publicly traded and unlisted companies.
Manini practices in the areas of General Corporate and Commercial.
She has gathered expertise in Wine and Spirit Industry, food laws, drugs laws and has advised domestic clients in the related fields.
Before joining JSA, she/he was an in-house counsel with a well-known Spirit Company. Where she has gather valuable experience on the industry specific laws with a special focus on Food Safety and Standards Act and Rules, Legal Metrology Act and Excise Laws amongst others.
Prior to that she has gathered vital experience & expertise, inter alia, in handling various types of Litigations – Corporate & Commercial, Arbitrations, and drafting of commercial agreements.
Abhishek is a member of the Corporate Commercial practice and his practice areas includes Mergers & Acquisitions, Private Equity, Joint Ventures, foreign direct investments in India and overseas direct investment by Indian companies. He advises clients on diverse issues in relation to company law, structured investments, legal due diligence, exchange control regulations, and is regularly engaged in drafting & negotiation of transactional documents & commercial contracts. Before joining JSA, Abhishek was working with Aditya Birla Group and handled cross border Mergers & Acquisition, corporate restructuring corporate litigations and wide variety of commercial agreements in relation to industries such as Chemicals, Carbon Black, Fertilizers and Pulp & Fiber.
