Jyoti Sagar has honed his legal skills for over four decades, practising law since 1976. He has pioneered new paradigms in the organisation and management structures of Indian law firms. Founder of J. Sagar Associates law firm and K&S Partners, a boutique intellectual property rights firm, he has introduced several features that remain unique to Indian law firms even to this day.
A ‘no family’ rule, admittance to partnership without goodwill buy-in, a fixed retirement age for partners and innovative partner compensation mechanisms, are just a few of the many pioneering systems and processes that he has seamlessly integrated into the shared vision, mission and core values of the firms.
Jyoti is the Associate President at Society of Indian Law Firms and he currently serves as one of the International Vice Presidents of Asian Patent Attorneys Association. He has also been the past President of Asian Patent Attorneys Association (Indian Group).
He is the Chairman of Society for Urban Regeneration of Gurgaon that focuses on long term sustainable development issues of Gurgaon, National Capital Region. A Trustee of Genesis Foundation that provides critical medical assistance to the underprivileged children suffering from congenital heart defects, he also supports Deepalaya that is engaged in education of slum children in the National Capital Region. Jyoti serves on the Board of Governors, The Scindia School, Gwalior.

Jyoti founded J. Sagar Associates (JSA) in New Delhi in 1991 as a solo practitioner. In 1994, he founded K&S Partners, an Intellectual Property boutique firm. Both these firms are today well established in the annals of Indian legal firms.
