India’s recent labour law reforms aim to support economic growth by improving ease of doing business and utilising its demographic advantage. The government has consolidated 29 central labour laws into four simplified labour codes, creating a more structured and unified framework. These reforms focus on reducing legal complexity, harmonising definitions, and introducing uniform compliance standards across sectors and states. While full implementation is ongoing, the objective is to make regulations more business-friendly while continuing to protect worker welfare.
