India has recently implemented four consolidated Labour Codes—Wages, Industrial Relations, Occupational Safety & Health, and Social Security—to replace 29 existing laws. These reforms aim to simplify compliance, ensure universal minimum wages, extend social security to gig workers, improve workplace safety, and provide clearer rules for employers and employees. The changes promise better protections for workers and reduced administrative burden for businesses, though detailed rules from states and the center are awaited for full implementation.
