There is no specific statutory offence of corporate manslaughter in India. However, offences of a similar nature are provided for in the Indian Penal Code, 1860 (IPC).
Under the IPC, a “person” includes a company or association or body of persons, whether incorporated or not. Any offence committed by a person and the corresponding punishment can therefore also apply to a company.
