Developments in Competition Law during June 2022
In the month of June, the Competition Commission of India (“CCI”) found protective tube vendors guilty of bid-rigging cartel and Amateur Baseball Federation guilty of abusing its dominant position. Further, the CCI dismissed cases against Britannia and Atos India for indulging in alleged anti-competitive practices. It also approved several combinations including:
- acquisition of minority shareholding of BDR Pharmaceuticals by the Multiples group and other financial investors;
- acquisition of minority shareholding of Hero FinCorp by the Apollo group;
- acquisition of majority shareholding of Magma HDI General Insurance by the Rising Sun group;
- appointment of Trian’s representative, on the board of Unilever under Green Channel;
- acquisition of non-performing assets of JBF Industries by Madelin Enterprises under Green Channel.
