Developments in Competition Law during September 2021
In the month of September, the CCI imposed a penalty of approx. INR 863.28 crores (USD 117.65 million) on beer manufacturers for cartelization and ordered investigation against UFO Moviez for imposing vertical restraints on cinema owners. It also approved several notable combinations including:
- acquisition of additional shareholding and sole control of Mukand Limited by the Bajaj group
- acquisition of additional shareholding of Bikaji Foods by the Lighthouse Fund
- acquisition of Jaypee Infratech by Suraksha Group
- acquisition of minority shareholding of Grofers by Zomato
