Indirect Tax – Remission of Duties and Taxes on Exported Products Scheme

Remission of Duties and Taxes on Exported Products Scheme (“RoDTEP Scheme”/ “the Scheme”)

Introduction

The RoDTEP Scheme replaces the erstwhile Merchandise Exports from India Scheme (“MEIS”) to incentivise the export of goods from India. It is understood that unlike MEIS, the Scheme is compliant with the World Trade Organisation (“WTO”) norms.

The Scheme is introduced under the provisions of the Foreign Trade Policy 2015-20 (FTP) and is applicable for exports undertaken from January 1, 2021, onwards.
