Varun’s practice focuses on domestic and cross-border M&A transactions, private equity investments, venture capital investments, joint ventures and general corporate advisory. Varun also has experiance in banking and finance, and restructuring and insolvency.

Before joining JSA, Varun was at Trilegal’s Mumbai office.

  • Advised Serentica Renewables (Sterlite Group) on establishing a C&I/decarbonization focused renewable energy platform with a USD 650-million commitment from KKR.
  • Advised CRISIL Limited on its acquisition of Bridge to India Private Limited.
  • Advised Aon Plc in the acquisition of, a composite insurance broker in India, Global Insurance Brokers Private Limited. Currently, assisting with formalities for seeking approval from the IRDAI to close the transaction.
  • Advised Dr. Lal PathLabs Limited on its acquisition of Suburban Diagnostics India Private Limited.
  • Advised The Supreme Industries Limited in acquisition of a pipes business from Parvati Agro Plast in Maharashtra as a slump sale.
  • Advised Indian subsidiaries of Bayer AG in the sale of their cotton, pearl millet, sorghum and mustard seed business and related assets in India to Crystal Crop Protection Limited.
  • Advised GMM Pfaudler Limited. on its acquisition of the Hyderabad plant & machinery as well as land assets of its competitor De Deitrich Process Systems India Pvt. Ltd.
  • Advised GMM Pfaudler Limited in acquisition of the industrial mixing and solutions division of Sudarshan Chemical Industries Limited.
  • Advised SunSource Energy, its Promoters and investor (Neev Fund) on a strategic investment by SHV Energy.
  • Advised Neev Fund (a private equity fund back by DFID, United Kingdom and State Bank of India) for structuring Neev Fund’s exit from certain existing investments.
  • Advised Neev Fund on its acquisition of a substantial minority stake in Chakr Innovations Private Limited and Punjab Renewables Energy Systems Private Limited.
  • Advised Growthpond Technology Private Limited and its promoters engaged in the information and technology sector with their seed round investment of approx. INR 42,00,00,000 (Indian Rupees Forty Two Crore).
  • Advised Sprng Energy Private Limited on structuring acquisition and funding of project SPVs developing solar, wind and hybrid power plants.
