Pragya’s core area of practice is Commercial Litigation and Arbitration. She specializes in disputes in the Engineering & Construction and Information Technology Services sectors.

She has successfully represented clients in various domestic and international commercial arbitrations with awards of more than hundreds of crores being passed in favor of the client.

Pragya regularly handles high value commercial matters before the Supreme Court and various High Courts. She also has significant experience in company & shareholder disputes and has represented clients before the National Company Law Tribunal & National Company Law Appellate Tribunal.

Pragya has been practicing law since 2012. She has been with JSA since the inception.

Some of the key assignments in these areas handled and being handled by Pragya amongst others, cover the following:

  • Successfully represented Larsen & Toubro Limited in arbitration proceedings against Indian Oil Corporation Ltd., in relation to disputes under an EPC contract for the construction of a Captive Power Plant, forming part of IOCL’s Panipat Naphtha Cracker Plant. The matter was listed by the India Business Law Journal as one of their ‘Deals of the Year’ for 2017.
  • Successfully represented one of India’s largest Engineering & Construction Company in arbitration proceedings pertaining to disputes arising out of an EPC Contract for construction of a Thermal Power Project. The value of claims awarded exceeded Rs. 1000 crores. Counter-claims of about Rs. 1200 crores raised by the counter party were also rejected by the tribunal.
  • Successfully represented a leading IT/ITES company in arbitration proceedings against a statutory body in relation to disputes arising out of its contracts for implementing e-governance. The value of claims awarded exceeded INR 550 crores. Counter-claims of more than Rs 200 crores raised by the counter party were also rejected by the tribunal.
  • Successfully represented a leading infrastructure company in obtaining an arbitral award for about Rs 200 crores against a government undertaking along with a declaration that termination of contract between the parties by the counter party was not valid. Counter-claims of about Rs. 419 crores raised by the counter party were also rejected by the tribunal.
  • Representing various construction companies (and joint ventures) in relation to their disputes with Government Corporations arising out of construction of Metro Rail Projects, Hydro-electric & Thermal Power Plant Projects.
  • Representing foreign companies in arbitration proceedings being conducted under the SIAC and ICC Rules of Arbitration.
  • Representing multiple Foreign & Indian Private Equity investors in their disputes with the promoters of companies before the National Company Law Tribunal & National Company Law Appellate Tribunal.
