Our partner, Mary Julie John shared her insights on a live panel discussion hosted by CNN News 18 on 22nd September 2023. The topic of discussion was the recently passed Women Reservation Bill of 2023, also known as the ‘Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam.
This landmark bill received overwhelming support and was passed in the Lok Sabha this past Wednesday. Its primary objective is to reserve one-third or 33% of all seats for women in both the Lok Sabha and state legislative assemblies. Furthermore, this pivotal bill was introduced in the Rajya Sabha on Thursday, with Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal emphasising that it forms a vital part of the government’s ongoing efforts towards women’s empowerment.
