Saunak is actively involved in the disputes practice of the firm with primary focus in the Infrastructure and Regulatory Litigation which includes Energy (Power and Natural Resources), Environment, Public Procurement, Civil Aviation, Engineering, Procurement and Construction, Public-Private Partnerships etc.
His practice focuses on Drafting of Petitions, Appeals, Rejoinders, Statement of Claims, Applications etc. and Representing the Clients (across practice area) before various fora being Supreme Court of India, different High Courts, Electricity Commissions (Central/State), Appellate Tribunal for Electricity, sector specific Bodies/Authorities, Arbitral Tribunals etc.
He has been involved in several advisories and legal opinions concerning regulatory issues pertaining to Force Majeure, Change in Law, End-Use of Coal by Power Plants, Renewable Energy Certificates and its Trading, Renewable Power Purchase Obligations, Import of Coal, Generation, Distribution, and Transmission of Electricity, sector-specific Reforms, etc. He has critically analyzed the issues arising out of the policies issued by different Statutory Authorities with respect to the practice areas.
Saunak has been a Bar Council of India Trust Scholar [2017]. With a specialization in Constitutional and Administrative laws, he graduated from KIIT School of Law, Bhubaneswar in 2019. He joined the firm in his 10th Semester as a Legal Trainee/Permanent Intern and has been an Attorney with the Firm upon graduation since July 2019.
