Raghvendra’s professional journey reflects a wealth of experience and expertise in various facets of law. His practice areas span Investment Treaty Arbitration, Investment Treaty Negotiation, and Commercial Litigation, with a primary focus on representing clients before the Supreme Court of India and various High Courts throughout the country.

After joining the profession, Raghvendra has honed his skills, actively participating in high-profile domestic and international arbitrations. His involvement extends to diverse sectors and jurisdictions.

Raghvendra is well-versed in handling litigations in various Indian courts, including the Supreme Court, various High Courts, National Company Law Tribunals and Appellate Tribunal, various consumer fora, Mines Tribunal, and PMLA Tribunal.

Prior to joining JSA, Raghvendra served as a legal consultant for Investment treaties and Investor-State Arbitration with the Department of Economic Affairs, Ministry of Finance, advising the Indian Government on investment treaty negotiations and arbitrations.

Notably, he has extended his legal prowess beyond national borders, contributing to cases before international courts and tribunals such as US circuit court, ICSID, and AAA-ICDR. His international experience includes working with a global law firm DLA Piper LLP in the US, focusing on international litigation and arbitration. He also served as a Research Assistant with the International Arbitration Institute, Miami. Before that, Raghvendra was an integral part of the Supreme Court litigation team at a leading Indian law firm.

In essence, Raghvendra’s comprehensive background underscores his proficiency in navigating the complexities of legal disputes, both domestically and internationally, making him a valuable asset in the realm of dispute resolution and international law.

  • Acting for a state-owned industrial corporation in an international arbitration arising from its disputes with the foreign shareholder in the affairs relating to a leading petrochemical plant in India
  • Acting for a state-owned industrial corporation in an international arbitration arising out of a contract with a foreign party concerning grant of certain incentives and tax exemptions
  • Acting for a state-owned industrial corporation in a domestic arbitration against a leading automobile manufacturer in India pertaining to disputes and claims in setting up of a manufacturing plant
  • Acting for a state-owned industrial corporation in various court proceedings relating to and arising out of arbitrations concerning challenges and enforcements of arbitral awards
  • Acting for a leading Indian infrastructure finance company/NBFC in its disputes arising from a shareholder’s agreement; and also advising and acting for the same company in various proceedings under the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code, and across courts and tribunals in India
  • Acting for a leading depository of India before the Supreme Court and various High Courts in diverse matters involving issues pertaining to powers and functions of regulatory authorities
  • Advising and acting for a leading German automobile corporation in various consumer litigations across India

  • Negotiated investment protection and investment liberalization chapters (pending & concluded) under FTAs for Republic of India
  • Advised Republic of India (Ministry of Finance) on agenda/issues under UNCITRAL working group III
  • Part of the team that drafted the proposed law on International Commercial Mediation for the State of Florida
  • Part of the team which represented a UAE entity that encountered US sanctions in view of Ukraine-Russia War
  • Advised Republic of India on aspects of investment protection and treaty protection in various MOUs signed between Republic of India and other countries
  • Advised Republic of India on government procurement and market access chapters in proposed and ongoing FTAs with developed economies
  • Advised Republic of India on various aspects of ISDS in BIT and investment protection chapter in FTAs with developed economies
  • Drafting of articles of investment treaties and investment protection chapter of FTAs
  • Successfully represented a Government of India undertaking (infrastructure company) in an international commercial arbitration wherein the claim was worth US$ 100 M
  • Successfully represented a private airline in challenge and enforcement petitions under Arbitration and Conciliation Act, 1996 before the High Court of Delhi and the Supreme Court of India (in an arbitration valued over US$200 M)
  • Successfully represented a global automobile giant in challenge and enforcement petitions under Arbitration and Conciliation Act, 1996 before the High Court of Delhi (in an arbitration valued over US$500 M)
  • Successfully represented a global pulp machinery manufacturing company in a proceeding for interim measures under Arbitration and Conciliation Act, 1996 before the High Court of Delhi in an arbitration valued over US$150 M
  • Successfully represented a global reinsurer in a proceeding for appointment of arbitrators under the Arbitration and conciliation Act, 1996 in an international commercial arbitration before Hon’ble Supreme Court of India
  • Successfully represented an Indian agricultural tools manufacturing company against a Chinese agricultural equipment company in an India seated (Delhi) international commercial arbitration
  • Successfully represented the Indian Hotel and Restaurant Association in the landmark judgment of the Supreme Court of India involving constitutional rights of women and permitting the operation of dance bars in Maharashtra, India
