Kavya is a member of JSA’s technology, media and telecommunications (TMT) practice. In this capacity, she advises clients extensively on various aspects of Indian information technology, data privacy, fintech, consumer protection and e-commerce laws.
Kavya’s practice largely focuses on fintech laws in India. She regularly advises clients on their product initiatives and technology-based service offerings. She has counselled clients on Indian payment system regulations, including regulations relating to recurring payments, tokenization, open banking, outsourcing, virtual digital assets, etc. She regularly advises banks and other financial institutions in relation to regulatory compliance.
Kavya has extensively advised clients on issues and transactions related to virtual digital assets including non-fungible tokens and cryptocurrencies, such as ownership and intellectual property issues, e-commerce, royalty collection, foreign direct investment, smart contracts and financial regulatory issues.
Kavya also advises on various regulatory and policy matters, including in the education and immigration sectors. In addition, she assists clients with commercial contract negotiation, drafting and advisory.
She has been practicing law since 2018. Before joining JSA, she was with L&L Partners Law Offices (formerly, Luthra & Luthra) and Saraf & Partners. As part of their banking and finance practice, she
focused on domestic and cross-border debt transactions including syndicated lending, real estate financing, external commercial borrowings and debt capital market issuances.
