Aditya is a regulatory and disputes lawyer based in New Delhi with over a decade of experience at the intersection of energy regulation, administrative law, and complex commercial litigation. His practice is anchored in the electricity sector, where he advises private distribution licensees, power generators, and large consumers on regulatory proceedings, policy advocacy, and high-stakes disputes before the Supreme Court, High Courts, the Appellate Tribunal for Electricity, and State Electricity Regulatory Commissions.

His regulatory practice spans the full lifecycle of electricity sector work from advising on post-privatisation transition issues, formulation of licensing frameworks, and transfer of PPAs and workforce, to challenging regulatory commissions on complex techno-commercial tariff matters affecting consumer tariffs and distribution sector viability.

  • Represented Discoms in landmark judgment of the Hon’ble Supreme Court on regulatory assets, shaping jurisprudence on creation, continuation, and liquidation of Regulatory Assets.
  • Filed Writ Petitions challenging confiscatory tariff, minimum wage notifications, and smart metering tender qualifications; defended clients against government cancellation of allotments on grounds of contractual breach.
  • Advised on transition issues arising post-privatization and restructuring of Electricity Departments, including formulation of licensing frameworks, transfer of PPAs, assets and workforce, compliance with regulatory frameworks, and resolution of legacy disputes.
  • Challenging Regulations of Electricity Regulatory Commissions on complex techno commercial issues impacting consumer tariff, viability of distribution sector, grid security.
  • Filed regulatory petitions, stakeholder comments, and policy submissions including on green energy tariffs, Battery Energy Storage Systems, RPOs, and tariff determination delays.
  • Successfully represented Discoms in matters relating to RTI, CAG, automatic compensation under Standards of Performance, and regulatory compliance proceedings.
  • Advised on central schemes (RDSS, PM Surya Ghar, Atmanirbhar Bharat), energy conservation, and policy advocacy including representations for regulatory reforms.
  • Addressed issues on network operations (supply code, smart metering, safety regulations, network augmentation, electrocution claims, billing disputes, theft and unauthorized use).
  • Advised on corporate governance, Companies Act compliance, board matters, CSR, ESG frameworks, and representation before regulators and courts.
  • Handled disputes under IBC, including proceedings on applicability of IBC to Discoms.
  • Filed proceedings to quash FIRs/ Charge sheets against KMPs and employees.
