Tanya Tiwari

Tanya’s key focus area is commercial litigation and arbitration. She advises and represents clients before various forums, including Supreme Court, High Courts, National Company Law Appellate Tribunal and Arbitral Tribunals.

Tanya has expertise in construction and engineering litigation and has represented construction companies in matters relating to tender disputes, contractual disputes etc.

She also has extensive experience in ad-hoc and institutional arbitrations. She represents clients in arbitrations related to a wide range of sectors, such as constructions and engineering, real estate, infrastructure etc. She has also represented clients in arbitration-related court proceedings.

Before joining JSA, she has worked in the offices of Ms. Priya Kumar and Singh & Associates where she gained experience in general civil commercial litigation, mining law and Road & Highway Projects.

  • Represented various construction companies including India’s leading premier infrastructure developer, in arbitration proceedings arising out of infrastructure contracts and construction & engineering contracts etc.
  • Appeared before various High Courts on behalf of construction companies in matters ranging from tender disputes, challenge to arbitral awards, execution petitions etc.
  • Represented a Concessionaire in suo motu proceedings initiated by a High Court overseeing the construction of National Highways and infrastructure development of the State.
  • Represented a construction company which is a pioneer in India’s infrastructure industry in disputes arising out a contract for the construction of high-altitude railway tunnel, which is a landmark project for the country, before the Arbitral Tribunal and High Court.
  • Represented one of world’s largest securities depository, in a civil appeal filed by Securities Exchange Board of India arising out of an order of Securities Appellate Tribunal, Mumbai.
  • Represented a lender having an exposure in a group company of Infrastructure Leasing & Financial Services Limited, before National Company Law Appellate Tribunal and Supreme Court.
  • Represented an open access consumer of electricity before the Supreme Court in a civil appeal challenging illegal demand notices by the State Commission. The decision of the Supreme Court laid down precedent on prospective application of amendments by the Commission in electricity wheeling contracts.
