Sounak Chakraborty, Associate, JSA

Sounak specializes in Banking & Finance. He has extensive experience in Banking & Finance related transactions including all manner of Debt Transactions (secured, limited recourse and syndicated), Project Finance, Real Estate Financing, Unlisted Debt and General Banking Products.

In addition, he has experience in Corporate Commercial and Finance related transactions including Foreign Investment, Insolvency and Bankruptcy across industry sectors.

He has been practicing law since 2018. Before joining JSA, he was with SNG & Partners, as an associate in their banking and finance practice.

Some of the key assignments in these areas handled and being handled by Sounak amongst others, cover the following:

  • Advising REC Limited and Power Finance Corporation in relation to funding private companies for multiple solar power projects being set up in Karnataka and Uttar Pradesh;
  • Advising REC Limited in relation to funding a public listed company for procurement of electric buses operating in the Electric Vehicle City Bus Services under the FAME India scheme;
  • Advising the Resolution Professional appointed under the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code, 2016 in relation to the corporate insolvency resolution process of a company involved in the construction sector;
  • Advising a consortium of lenders and preparing a resolution plan in relation to financial restructuring of companies involved in generation and transmission of power, under the June 7th circular of RBI; and
  • Advised Standard Chartered Bank in relation to the subscription of privately placed listed non-convertible debentures aggregating to INR 13 Billion issued by a public company.
  • Advised Kotak Mahindra Bank Limited in relation to the subscription of privately placed listed non-convertible debentures aggregating to INR 5 Billion issued by a public company.
