He has domain expertise and extensive experience in TMT related assignments relating to Policy, Regulatory, Contractual, Compliance and Approvals, Transactional and Litigation.
His practice focusses on advice relating to Guidelines and license terms and conditions of telecom service providers, DTH operators, Broadcasters, MSO and Cable operators including internet telephony, encryption, spectrum sharing and trading, revenue share arrangements of operators, sharing or acquiring infrastructure, access to cable landing station, in-flight connectivity, net neutrality, license fee, private leased network, pricing of TV channels, etc. He has also advised on matters relating to data protection and privacy, Other Service Providers, value added services, data centre, app-based communication services, Internet of Things, cloud computing, telemarketing, smart cities, Gaming, Digital maps for navigational services, etc. He has handled regulatory and other litigations of Bharti Airtel in TDSAT, Supreme Court and other forums, while he was there as an in-house counsel.
He has negotiated agreements with major international telecom operators like AT&T, Vodafone, Sprint, British Telecom, Orange Business, SingTel, RIM, etc, and some of the biggest outsourcing contracts relating to IT and telecom network in India with IBM, Motorola, Ericsson, Nokia. He has advised Amazon, Facebook, Reliance Jio, Tata teleservice, Accenture, NDTV, Dell, Bharti Airtel, Alibaba, GE, Ericsson, Yahoo, SingTel, Optus, Siemens, etc.
He has been practicing law since 2000. Prior to being a partner with JSA, Asim was a partner at the law firm of Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas. Prior to 2000, he was working as Director (Tariff & Costing) in the Department of Telecommunication, Ministry of Communications.
