Aditya Singh, Associate, JSA

Aditya is part of the Dispute resolution practice at JSA with focus on energy & infrastructure sectors.

He has extensive experience in handling various Power Sector regulatory issues including disputes relating to fixation of tariff and other contractual disputes.

He has been advising and rendering legal opinions to utilities involved in Generation, Distribution, Trading and Transmission of Electricity.

He has represented the clients before various Electricity Regulatory Commissions, Appellate Tribunal for Electricity, High Court and Supreme Court on various issues including fixation of tariff, contractual disputes arising out of Power Purchase Agreement, change in law, renewable purchase obligations, open access, connectivity, banking, cross subsidy surcharge and safety aspects involving electrical installations and employee related issues.

In addition to the above, he has extensive experience in Commercial and Civil Litigation across various industry verticals. He has been practicing law since July 2016. Before joining JSA, he was working with Mr. G. Umapathy, Advocate (Supreme Court of India) where he gained specialized knowledge regarding the Power sector issues.

Some of the key assignments in these areas handled and being handled by Aditya amongst others, cover the following:

  • Successfully defended all the three Discoms in the NCT Delhi in a PIL seeking reduction of Fixed Charges and Revision of Contract Demand. The PIL was dismissed by the Hon’ble High Court of Delhi.
  • Successfully sought stay from the Appellate Tribunal on the penalty imposed by Delhi Electricity regulatory Commission on a Discom for alleged non-compliance of Renewable Purchase Obligation
  • Instrumental in policy advocacy and filing of Petitions for Solar developer in various states seeking banking for the useful life of the project i.e. 25 years as well as issuance of Wheeling and Banking Agreements.
