Developments in Competition Law during April 2022

In the month of April 2022, the Competition Commission of India conducted raids on the business premise of the sellers of Amazon and Flipkart and certain mining services companies. Further, it ordered an investigation against Zomato and Swiggy for indulging in alleged anti-competitive practices and penalised soil testing companies and railway brushes manufacturers for indulging in bid rigging cartel. It also passed several notable orders including:

  • dismissing separate cases against milk suppliers and Mercedes for indulging in alleged anti- competitive practices.
  • dismissing case against food contractors for indulging in an alleged bid rigging cartel.
  • approving acquisition of minority shareholding of Shriram General Insurance Company by KKR group under Green Channel.
  • approving acquisition of Sintex by Reliance and ACRE Trust.
