Desh is one of the only Sports Attorneys in India, and a part of the only Sports law Practice among the full service Indian corporate law firms.
As a part of JSA, he represents clients in the Sports and Entertainment domain, including Soccer clubs, federations, athletes, and a premier sports apparel manufacturer. He is also a part of the core team that is advising one of the largest global sports leagues on their India initiative. As a former top-ranked tennis player in India and Canada, and due to his overall domain knowledge and expertise, he provides his clients with a diverse overall perspective of the sports industry.
He completed his B.A.(Honors) in Economics from St. Stephen’s College, New Delhi where he captained the tennis team, and also captained the Delhi University team. He then completed his B.A. with Honors from the University of Iowa on a tennis scholarship, and was a three time letter-winner and an Academic All-Big 10 as a member of the tennis team. He completed his Juris Doctorate in Sports and Corporate law from the William and Mary law school, and is licensed to practice in New York and Delhi. He has worked with one of the largest global Sports Management firms in the U.S., and as a Director of Orient Sports Management in New Delhi, prior to joining JSA; he represented athletes, federations, and private bodies for their legal and sports-related matters.
Desh is a regular columnist with the Express Group, and also writes frequently in other daily publications and online sports portals. He writes on sports law and the business of sports, as well as on Entertainment law, and other law-related current affairs. He has authored an Honors thesis titled “Human Capital Formation and Intercollegiate Athletics: the Effects of Title IX”.
